Chase Berggrun and Kevin Grant at Baker Books, 4/24/2010

After a chilly hiatus during winter’s darkest months, Whaling City Review LIVE is crawling out of hibernation in search of the elusive New England sun. This month, we’ll be presenting two up and coming Massachusetts poets: Chase Berggrun and Kevin Grant. An open mic will follow the featured readers.

Chase Berggrun is a poet from Yarmouth, Massachusetts. His work has been published in Hanging Loose #94, Out of Our, the Newport Review, and the anthology Time You Let Me In: 25 Poets Under 25, edited and selected by Naomi Shihab Nye and published by Greenwillow books, an imprint of HarperCollins. His work will also be appearing in the forthcoming BURP #4. Chase was a resident at the 2008 yourword Teen Residency Program at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and is a student at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Kevin Grant lives in Lowell, Massachusetts, where he works in a neuro-rehab acute care facility. He has been the singer and lyricist for such acts as Iron Oak, The Judo Heirs, The Hidden and Gaskill. His poetry most recently appeared in …like this poetry magazine. Grant enjoys skateboarding and sledding with his daughter, and the occasional Madeira wine at No Problemo.
